Enabling Access to Affordable and Sustainable Cooling
The India Cooling Coalition (ICC) is a dynamic multi-stakeholder group comprising non-profits, academic and research institutions, and industry associations dedicated to sustainable cooling research and application. It serves as a national platform for dialogue with diverse stakeholders, recommending policy initiatives to ensure the success of government programs while advocating for affordable and sustainable cooling for all. With 23 member organisations, the ICC aims to accelerate the implementation of the India Cooling Action Plan and strategically address developmental challenges aligned with national and international commitments such as the Kigali Amendment, the Paris Agreement, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

India is experiencing a significant surge in demand for cooling due to rapid urbanisation, industrial growth, and changing lifestyles, compounded by the challenges of growing heat stress. With over 3000 annual cooling degree days, the country faces vulnerability to rising and extreme temperatures, with profound implications for GDP, food security, and public health.
