Can international collaborative R&D solve the world’s cooling conundrum?

The Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), in partnership with SHEETAL Alliance and Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), is pleased to invite you to a side-event at the 43rd Meeting of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, ‘Can international collaborative R&D solve the world’s cooling conundrum?’ on 14 July 2021, 1630-1730 hrs IST.

Collaborative R&D is central to ensuring access to cooling in emerging economies while minimising the consequent climate footprint. Efforts from stakeholders across government, industry, academia and policy will have to be galvanised systematically to facilitate the accelerated development and diffusion of clean cooling technologies.

This side-event is an attempt to engage with a crucial question: How do we leverage collaborative R&D, in the broader framework of bilateral, multilateral and global cooperation, to expand the market of alternative and energy-efficient cooling technologies in emerging economies?
